The way we use the bathroom sure has changed over time. In a century we have gone from a quick dash to an outhouse, to now spending more time than ever in the bathroom (thanks Twitter).
While we have increased the time we spend, we may not be paying attention to all the little things that could go awry when we are upgrading a bathroom. Some experts recommend that if you are going to upgrade a bathroom… plan on an extra 20 percent in your budget. Most of the problem is the damage water does. You may find mold, dry rot, or problems with the electrical that you hadn’t thought of.
Another thing to consider is storage. Simply put… there is never enough. Just like your budget, plan on having more storage than you “think” you might need. This is where we can be of assistance. You’ll always end up with more things in your bathroom than you thought would be there. But, with proper storage and arrangement of items, you’ll actually be able to get more in your bathroom than you thought you could.
So we have come a long way from running to a wooden box with an old catalog. Bathrooms are now just as important as any other room in the house, and really do need the extra attention. Besides, it will give you something fascinating to “Tweet” about!
