There was a time when automatic-flush toilets sounded as futuristic as flying cars. Now even the word high-tech has a less futuristic sound. High-tech has become the way most of us live our lives—using things like smart phones, GPS, and self-checkout kiosks. And as far as bathrooms go, automatic-flush toilets are far from the only high-tech feature people are buying. Here are some great high-tech options that are no longer extravagant, just super-amazing, and that you might want to consider for a bathroom upgrade:
-
Touch-sensor faucets. There are a number of quality touchless faucets on the market now, as well as some options for modifying existing faucets to have touchless operation, but we think touch-sensor faucets are a better way to go. With touch-sensor faucets, you don’t have to hold your hands directly under the faucet to keep the water running. Just lightly touch the neck of the faucet with your arm, your elbow, the back of your hand—you get the idea—and the water will turn at the pressure and temperature you last used or selected.
-
Refrigerated medicine cabinets. No longer do perishable medicines need to be kept in the kitchen fridge, thanks to bathroom cabinets that include refrigerated compartments. These are also handy for extending the life of cosmetics and for stowing cold beverages.
- Automated Toilet. Automatic flush? That’s so 2011. Toilets now come with much more interesting options, things like motion-activated seats and covers, bidets with an air dryers, heated seats, foot-warmers, and—get this—even Bluetooth-powered music.
- Digital Tubs and Showers. New advanced digital tub and shower systems make it possible for every person in a household to store their temperature and water-pressure settings in a single tub or shower. You can then turn on the water—from the comfort of your bed using a remote, if you like—and these systems sound off an alert when the water temperature reaches your personal setting.
- Music Enhancements. A nice, hot shower or tub soak becomes great when you can listen to some relaxing tunes while you’re at it. There are actually lots of options for adding music to the shower or tub these days, from bathtubs with special transducers built into their exteriors, to showerheads that dual as wireless speakers.
