The age old debate about leaving the toilet seat up, or putting it back down. We won’t attempt to solve that one today, but the argument always seems to heat up with nighttime bathroom journeys.
To that end, Kohler has sent a toilet seat with runway lights to help guide the way. It could be the latest bathroom remodeling frivolity… or a brilliant solution to a common marital spat.
Here’s how it works: The toilet seat is equipped with a soft blue light powered by 4 AA batteries. At a predetermined time after bedtime, it comes to life with an eerie glow reminiscent of a 1980’s horror movie (if there was a 1980’s horror movie about toilets). The benefit is that you can easily find your way to your porcelain mug without jarring yourself (or your bedtime companion) with bright bathroom lights. As you lift the lid, an outline of blue LEDs should conveniently direct you to complete your mission without missing your target. There’s even a polite gizmo that prevents the lid from slamming and waking up the whole house.
If that’s all a bit too much, for about $15 a company called “Fuloon” invented a motion sensing gadget that will give a green light when the inner seat is down, and a red light when the inner seat is up – -presumably to prevent unexpected nighttime “splashdowns.”
In the end, customizing a bathroom to fit you and your family is something that we do every day. No matter how basic or outrageous the request, there’s always a new gadget out there to make your bathroom brilliantly convenient.
