If you want a glimpse into the future, and into the slightly bizarre, your first stop should always be Japan. Always the innovators, Japan has come out with some amazing options in what we have considered the most basic of all appliances.
When considering a bathroom remodel, you may not have even known that you needed a toilet seat that automatically raises, but such a thing now exists. But, that’s just the beginning. Heated toilet seats, sound effects, built-in bidet features, and a stand for your tablet are all options that exist. Mostly in Japan, but some of these top-tech-toilets are beginning to flush the American markets.
Granted, our simple Midwestern ways are not prepared for toilets that come with an instruction manual, but since the basic function of using and operating a potty hasn’t changed in over a century, some luxury buyers are willingly diving in.
Some are showing up in upscale office buildings as they remodel their bathrooms to welcome international visitors. Private homes are also installing some impressive rest rooms. There’s an upper end trend to see if American bathrooms can go “paper free.” This would mean welcoming bidets and warm air dryers into our toilets, but little by little it is making its way here.
For many, however, the good old stand-by flush toilet works just fine and the bulk of the bathroom remodel is spent on all the things around the toilet. The choice is yours, of course, and we are always here to help.
